Nothing happens at all
No movement, no lights, no sound from the motor when you press the remote or the button.

Stuck gate? Dead remote? Nothing since the last power cut? We come out the same day during business hours, tell you what is actually wrong, and quote you in writing before we touch anything.
heyhome repairs and installs gate motors, garage door motors and access systems throughout Stellenbosch and the surrounding Winelands. We work on sliding and swing gates, service the three brands most commonly fitted to South African homes — Centurion, ET Nice and Gemini — and offer same-day callouts during business hours, Monday to Friday. Every job is quoted in writing before work begins. Phone 077 293 6863.
The single most common cause of a gate that has suddenly stopped working is a failed backup battery. These typically last two to three years, and load-shedding shortens that considerably because the battery is cycled far more often than the manufacturer designed for.
Find the one that matches. It will not fix the gate, but it will tell you roughly what you are dealing with before anyone quotes you — which is the whole point.
No movement, no lights, no sound from the motor when you press the remote or the button.
The gate runs one way happily, then refuses to come back — often stopping and reversing.
The gate sets off, then stalls partway along the track or reverses without reaching the end.
You can hear the motor working, but nothing happens — or the gate creeps and grinds.
You have to stand right next to the gate, or one remote works and the other has given up.
Everything was fine until the power went out, and the gate has not worked properly since.
One team for the whole entrance — so you are not phoning three different people when the gate, the garage and the intercom all decide to misbehave in the same month.
Diagnosis, battery replacement, gear and rack repairs, safety beam realignment, control board faults and limit resets. Sliding and swing gates.
Supply and installation of sliding and swing gate motors, with safety beams, remotes and a backup battery sized for how often your gate actually runs.
Roller and sectional door motors repaired, replaced and installed — usually in the same visit as the gate, if both need attention.
Remote programming and replacement, receiver upgrades where range has dropped, and gate intercom installation and repair.
Got something else on your gate? Phone us — we will tell you straight whether it is one we can help with.
The reason people dread calling someone about a gate is not the gate. It is not knowing what it will cost or whether the person arriving knows what they are doing.
Phone or fill in the form. Describe the symptom in plain language — you do not need the right words.
You hear the call-out fee and a time slot before we get in the vehicle. No vague "sometime today".
We find the actual fault and put the price in writing. Nothing starts until you say yes.
What was wrong, what we fitted, what to watch. So next time nobody starts from zero.
Someone comes, something gets replaced, a handwritten invoice appears, and eighteen months later nobody can remember what brand the motor is, when the battery was last done, or who fitted it. So the next person starts guessing — and you pay for the guessing.
We keep a documented service history for your home. Every visit, every part, every reading, recorded in your Home Passport. It is the same reason you would not accept a car with no service book.
See an example reportBrand, model, install date, battery age, what failed and why — kept for your address, not on a technician's phone.
Background-checked, uniformed, and they introduce themselves. You know who is arriving before they do.
If the battery is two years old and about to go, you hear it now — not at 6am when the gate will not open.
A gate that will not open might need a R900 battery or a R9,000 motor, and anyone who quotes you before seeing it is guessing at your expense. What we can promise is that you will never be surprised:
Short, straight answers. No sales pitch hiding inside them.
The most common cause by a wide margin is a failed backup battery. Gate motor batteries typically last two to three years, and load-shedding shortens that considerably because the battery is cycled far more often than it was designed for. Other frequent causes are a tripped circuit, dirty or misaligned safety beams, a worn drive gear, or a control board damaged by a power surge.
Usually not. In most cases the motor is perfectly fine and the backup battery has simply reached the end of its life. A battery that managed twenty gate cycles when new may only manage two or three near the end — so the gate keeps working right up until the power goes out, then stops. Replacing the battery normally solves it.
We aim to reach Stellenbosch homes the same day for gate faults reported during business hours, Monday to Friday. If you are locked in or locked out, say so when you call and we will prioritise the visit.
It depends entirely on the fault, so we do not publish a fixed price. What we commit to is that you hear the call-out fee before we get in the vehicle, and you receive a written quote before any repair begins. We do not start work you have not approved, and nothing appears on the invoice that was not on the quote.
Centurion — including the D5, D10 and Sharp ranges — along with ET Nice and Gemini. Those three cover the large majority of gate motors fitted to South African homes. If yours is a different make, phone us on 077 293 6863 and we will tell you straight whether we can help rather than sending someone out on spec.
It depends on which part has failed and how old the unit is. A battery, a set of safety beams or a drive gear is almost always worth replacing on a working motor. A failed control board on a motor already past ten years old is usually the point where replacement makes more sense — and we will say so plainly rather than selling you a new one by default. You will get both numbers so you can decide.
Most standard sliding or swing gate installations are completed in a single visit, provided there is power at the gate and the gate itself runs freely on its track. Installations needing new cabling, track work or civil work may require a second visit — which we will tell you in the quote, not on the day.
Yes. We programme new remotes, replace lost or broken ones, and repair or replace receivers where the range has dropped off. If only one remote in the house has stopped working, it is usually the remote battery or a lost code rather than anything wrong with the motor.
Yes — roller and sectional garage door motors, repaired, replaced and installed. It is common for us to sort out both the gate and the garage in a single visit, which saves you a second call-out fee.
Stellenbosch town and the surrounding suburbs — Die Boord, Mostertsdrift, Brandwacht, Paradyskloof, Dalsig, Uniepark, Welgevonden, Simonswyk, Idas Valley, Jamestown, Kleine Zalze, De Zalze and Devonvale — plus Somerset West and Strand. If you are just outside, ask; we will tell you straight whether we can get to you.
Ja, natuurlik. Ons span werk in Afrikaans en Engels — bel gerus 077 293 6863.
It is the service record we keep for your home. Every visit, part and reading is logged against your address, so the next time something goes wrong nobody has to guess what was installed, when it was fitted, or what was done last time. You can see an example here.
We are local. That is not a marketing line — it means the vehicle is already in town when you phone, not setting off from Cape Town.
Fill this in and we will come back to you — or phone if the gate is stuck right now and you need someone today.
